Rooted in Tradition

Reconnecting our community with the land, the seasons, and each other through the simple art of slow living.

It Started With a Seed

Before "A Primitive Past" was a storefront on Main Street, it was a small garden patch behind our family home and a desire for something simpler.

We (Sarah and Thomas) found ourselves longing for the connection to food and craft that our grandparents had. We started growing heirloom tomatoes and making beeswax candles in our kitchen. What began as a weekend hobby quickly grew into a passion we wanted to share.

In 2012, we opened our doors with a simple promise: everything we sell is either grown by us, made by us, or crafted by a neighbor we know by name.

Tending the family farm in the early days

Our Philosophy

We believe in quality over quantity, slow over fast, and community over competition.

Chemical-Free

We practice regenerative farming. No harsh chemicals, just honest work and healthy soil.

Community First

We prioritize local artisans. When you buy here, you're directly supporting a neighbor's dream.

Seasonal Living

Our inventory changes with the leaves. We embrace the natural rhythm of the year.

Our Roots

The generations of farmers, makers, and neighbors whose way of life still shapes everything we do.

Meet Sarah & Thomas

We're the hands and hearts behind A Primitive Past. Thomas manages the 5-acre garden and the apiary, while Sarah curates the shop and crafts our signature herbal remedies.

Come say hello! We're usually in the shop on weekends, and we love swapping recipes and gardening tips.
